Editorial policy

The pages on this site explain construction work in Calgary: what it involves, what it costs, which permits apply and how to hire for it. This policy explains how that information is researched, written, checked and kept current.

Who is responsible

Every page is published under the name Sela Developments. [Owner name] is responsible for what the site says and approves each page before it goes live. Technical content is reviewed by the people who do the work on site.

How pages are written

Pages are drafted by our team with the help of research and writing software, including AI writing assistants. A draft is never published as is: it is checked against the sources listed below and against how we actually run projects, and anything that cannot be confirmed is removed.

Sources we rely on

We prefer primary sources, in this order:

  1. Codes and regulations: the National Building Code, Alberta Edition, Alberta legislation and Government of Alberta guidance.
  2. The City of Calgary and surrounding municipalities for permits, fees, bylaws and timelines.
  3. Manufacturer installation instructions and industry bodies for products and systems.
  4. Recognized industry organizations and published price guides for cost ranges, always named and dated.
  5. Our own project experience, described as experience, not as a statistic.

Each service page ends with a list of the sources used for its facts.

Numbers and prices

  • Permit fees, timelines and code requirements are quoted from the issuing authority and dated.
  • Cost ranges from third parties are labelled with the source and year. They are a guide, not a quote.
  • We do not publish a price for your project without seeing it. Every quote is written after a site visit.

Claims we do not make

We do not call ourselves the best, number one, top rated, award winning or leading, and we do not publish reviews, ratings or awards we cannot show you. We do state facts that can be checked, such as licences, insurance and WCB coverage, and we list them on the about page.

Photos

Project photos are from our job sites unless the caption says otherwise. Design renderings and placeholder images are labelled as such. We do not show client names or addresses without permission.

Reviews and updates

Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. Pages that quote fees, codes or prices are checked at least once a year and whenever the City of Calgary or the Province changes the rules.

Corrections

If you find an error, email info@seladevelopments.ca with the page address and what is wrong. We check it, fix confirmed errors and update the review date.
